Start a 2-Week Practice Journey
Work on one concrete relationship skill through short guided moments, real-life experiments, and optional couple conversations.
2-Week Practice Journeys
Your assessment highlights where change may be most useful. Journeys turn that insight into a focused two-week practice: 9 guided touchpoints, real-life experiments, and space between sessions to actually use the skill.
Research-informed, not habit mythology: Relationship research supports the value of repeated, concrete practice. Our Journey format uses short daily exercises to help turn insight into habits; it is not a claim that change happens on a fixed fixed timetable.
Guided Touchpoints
Nine short guided moments over 14 calendar days. Most take only 2–5 minutes; two optional couple moments are longer.
3-Phase Practice
Understand → Practice → Integrate. The goal is not content completion but a behavior that works in real life.
Real-World Practice
Short repeated practice can help make healthier relationship habits easier to repeat.
The Origin of the 12 Love Factors
The 12 Love Factors framework is a research-informed synthesis of attachment research, relationship science, and evidence-based couple-therapy approaches. It is an educational framework rather than a clinically validated diagnostic instrument.
Each factor represents one essential domain that shapes how partners bond, communicate, and grow together. Rather than offering personality types or generic advice, 12 Love Factors maps measurable behaviors and mindsets that can actually change over time. Learn more about each of the 12 dimensions in detail.
The model draws on:
Attachment research (Bowlby, Hazan & Shaver, Mikulincer & Shaver)
Behavioral and communication science on trust, conflict repair, and shared meaning
Recent work on relationship rituals, neuroplasticity, and positive psychology
We use this research base to organize twelve practical dimensions of relationship functioning. The 12-factor structure itself is our synthesis and should not be read as a claim that research has established one definitive twelve-factor model.
The Twelve Dimensions
Organized into four key categories
Attachment & emotional safety
Attachment Anxiety
How strongly fears of rejection, abandonment, or losing closeness get activated.
Attachment Avoidance
How comfortable you are depending on your partner and allowing emotional closeness.
Emotional Regulation under Stress
How well you notice activation, stay grounded, and recover when tension rises.
Interaction & connection
Conflict Problem-Solving
How well you turn disagreement into a shared problem both partners can work on.
Repair & De-escalation
How effectively you interrupt negative spirals and reconnect after tense moments.
Partner Responsiveness & Appreciation
How consistently you notice, understand, value, and respond to your partner.
Trust, commitment & fairness
Trust & Reliability
How safe it feels to rely on each other's honesty, loyalty, consistency, and follow-through.
Commitment & Future Orientation
How clearly you choose the relationship and include it in long-term decisions.
Fairness & Power Balance
Whether influence, decisions, responsibilities, and mental load feel fair.
Boundaries & Autonomy
How well you balance closeness with individuality, privacy, and personal limits.
Understanding these twelve dimensions helps partners see patterns instead of blaming personalities. It transforms vague frustrations into concrete, improvable areas of growth. Explore our Bond Better blog for practical tips on each factor.
Whether used in therapy, coaching, or self-reflection, the 12 Love Factors framework turns scientific insight into everyday relationship practice. Read more about our mission and the science behind the model.
